Know about Common prostate issues and how to prevent them" width="400" /></a></div><br /><div><h1 style="text-align: left;">What is Prostate? Understanding the Role and Importance of it.</h1><h2 style="text-align: left;">Introduction:</h2><div style="text-align: justify;">The prostate is a small, walnut-sized gland found in the male reproductive system. While it may be relatively small, its significance cannot be underestimated. The prostate plays a crucial role in male sexual and reproductive health, and understanding its function and potential health concerns is essential for maintaining overall well-being. In this article, we delve into the anatomy, function, and common issues associated with the prostate.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><h2 style="text-align: left;">Anatomy and Location:</h2><div style="text-align: justify;">Situated just below the bladder and in front of the rectum, the prostate surrounds the urethra, the tube responsible for transporting urine from the bladder out of the body. Its proximity to both the bladder and urethra makes it a key player in urinary and reproductive functions.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><h2 style="text-align: left;">Function:</h2><div style="text-align: justify;">The primary function of the prostate is to produce and secrete prostatic fluid. This milky fluid is a crucial component of semen, the fluid that nourishes and transports sperm during ejaculation. Prostatic fluid contains enzymes, proteins, and nutrients that help protect and support sperm, ensuring their viability and mobility.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><h2 style="text-align: left;">Reproductive Health and Fertility:</h2><div style="text-align: justify;">The health of the prostate directly impacts male fertility. When a man ejaculates, the prostatic fluid mixes with sperm from the testicles and seminal fluid from the seminal vesicles, creating semen. Any abnormalities or inflammation within the prostate can hinder the production and quality of prostatic fluid, potentially affecting fertility.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><h2 style="text-align: left;">Common Prostate Issues:</h2><h3 style="text-align: left;">1. Prostatitis:</h3><div style="text-align: justify;">Prostatitis refers to the inflammation of the prostate gland. It can be acute or chronic and is often caused by bacterial infections. Symptoms may include pain or discomfort in the pelvic area, difficulty urinating, and sometimes fever.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><h3 style="text-align: left;">2. Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH):</h3><div style="text-align: justify;">BPH is a non-cancerous enlargement of the prostate gland, commonly affecting aging men. As the prostate grows larger, it can obstruct the urethra, leading to urinary problems like frequent urination, weak urine flow, and a constant urge to urinate.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><h3 style="text-align: left;">3. Prostate Cancer:</h3><div style="text-align: justify;">Prostate cancer is a prevalent form of cancer in men. It occurs when abnormal cells in the prostate grow and multiply uncontrollably. Early detection is crucial for successful treatment, making regular screenings and check-ups vital.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><h2 style="text-align: left;">Preventive Measures:</h2><div style="text-align: justify;">While some prostate issues may be inevitable, there are steps men can take to promote prostate health:</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><h3 style="text-align: left;">1. Regular Check-ups:</h3><div style="text-align: justify;">Routine prostate exams, including digital rectal exams (DRE) and prostate-specific antigen (PSA) tests, are essential for early detection of any abnormalities.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><h3 style="text-align: left;">2. Maintain a Healthy Lifestyle:</h3><div style="text-align: justify;">Engaging in regular physical activity, maintaining a balanced diet, and managing stress can contribute to overall prostate health.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><h3 style="text-align: left;">3. Limit Alcohol and Tobacco Consumption:</h3><div style="text-align: justify;">Excessive alcohol consumption and smoking have been linked to an increased risk of prostate problems.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><h2 style="text-align: left;">Conclusion:</h2><div style="text-align: justify;">The prostate may be a small gland, but its role in male reproductive and urinary health is of significant importance. Understanding its function and potential issues can empower men to take proactive measures in caring for their prostate. Regular screenings, a healthy lifestyle, and awareness of any symptoms are essential components of maintaining a healthy prostate and overall well-being.</div></div><div class="blogger-post-footer">Generated from Askurdoctor.net.

Everything you need to know...</h2><div style="text-align: justify;">Back pain is a common ailment that affects millions of people worldwide. It can range from a dull, constant ache to a sharp, debilitating pain that hampers everyday activities. If you're experiencing back pain, it's important to understand its causes, risk factors, and treatment options. In this article, we'll provide you with a comprehensive overview of everything you need to know about back pain.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><h3 style="text-align: justify;">Causes of back pain:</h3><div style="text-align: justify;">Back pain can arise from various factors, including muscle strains, ligament sprains, herniated discs, spinal stenosis, osteoarthritis, osteoporosis, and even poor posture. Sometimes, the cause of back pain may not be immediately evident, leading to a condition called nonspecific back pain. However, most cases of back pain are caused by muscle imbalances, poor body mechanics, or trauma.</div><span><a name='more'></a></span><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><h3 style="text-align: justify;">Risk factors:</h3><div style="text-align: justify;">Certain factors can increase your risk of developing back pain. These include age (back pain is more common as you get older), a sedentary lifestyle, lack of exercise, obesity, smoking, and jobs that involve heavy lifting or repetitive movements. Additionally, psychological factors such as stress, anxiety, and depression can contribute to the development or exacerbation of back pain.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><h2 style="text-align: left;"><span><a href="https://www.askurdoctor.net/2022/01/migraine-everything-you-need-to-know.html"><!--more--></a></span></h2><h4 style="text-align: justify;"><a href="https://www.askurdoctor.net/2022/01/migraine-everything-you-need-to-know.html" target="_blank"><span style="color: #cc0000;">Migrain | Everything you need to know >>></span></a></h4><span><!--more--></span><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><h3 style="text-align: justify;">Prevention:</h3><div style="text-align: justify;">Preventing back pain is often possible by incorporating healthy habits into your lifestyle. Regular exercise, especially activities that strengthen the core muscles, can help support the spine and reduce the risk of injury. Maintaining a healthy weight, practicing good posture, using proper body mechanics when lifting heavy objects, and taking frequent breaks during prolonged sitting or standing can also play a significant role in preventing back pain.</div><span><!--more--></span><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><h3 style="text-align: justify;">Treatment options:</h3><div style="text-align: justify;">Treatment for back pain depends on the underlying cause and the severity of symptoms. In many cases, conservative measures such as rest, heat or ice therapy, over-the-counter pain medications, and gentle exercises or stretching can alleviate mild to moderate back pain. Physical therapy, chiropractic care, and massage therapy may also be beneficial for some individuals.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">If the pain persists or worsens, your healthcare provider may recommend additional interventions such as prescription medications, cortisone injections, or other minimally invasive procedures. Surgery is generally considered a last resort and is only recommended when conservative treatments have failed or in cases of severe spinal conditions.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><h4 style="text-align: justify;">Self-care and lifestyle modifications:</h4><div style="text-align: justify;">In addition to medical interventions, there are several self-care measures and lifestyle modifications that can help manage back pain. These include maintaining good posture, using ergonomic furniture and equipment, practicing stress management techniques, incorporating regular exercise and stretching into your routine, and avoiding activities that aggravate your symptoms.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><h4 style="text-align: justify;">When to seek medical attention:</h4><div style="text-align: justify;">While most cases of back pain resolve with conservative measures, there are situations when medical attention is necessary. Seek prompt medical care if you experience any of the following:</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><b>1. Severe pain or pain that does not improve with rest</b></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><b>2. Back pain accompanied by weakness, numbness, or tingling in the legs</b></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><b>3. Loss of bladder or bowel control</b></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><b>4. Fever, unexplained weight loss, or other systemic symptoms</b></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><b>5. Back pain following a traumatic injury or fall</b></div><span><!--more--></span><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><h3 style="text-align: justify;">Conclusion:</h3><div style="text-align: justify;">Back pain can significantly impact your quality of life, but understanding its causes, risk factors, and treatment options can empower you to manage and alleviate your symptoms effectively. By adopting healthy lifestyle habits, seeking appropriate medical care when needed, and incorporating self-care measures, you can take control of your back pain and live a more comfortable and active life. Remember, every case of back pain is unique, so it's crucial to consult with a healthcare professional for a proper diagnosis and personalized treatment plan.</div><span><!--more--></span><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div class="blogger-post-footer">Generated from Askurdoctor.net.

Doctor's Day is a special occasion to recognize the invaluable contributions of physicians and healthcare professionals worldwide. As we celebrate Doctor's Day in 2023, it holds even greater significance due to the challenging times the world has faced over the past few years.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><h3 style="text-align: justify;">A Global Healthcare Crisis</h3><div style="text-align: justify;">The year 2020 brought an unprecedented global healthcare crisis that tested the strength and resilience of healthcare systems around the world. The COVID-19 pandemic pushed doctors to the forefront of the battle against an invisible enemy, working selflessly to save lives and protect communities. Doctors, nurses, and all healthcare workers became the unsung heroes, working long hours, sacrificing personal time with their families, and putting their own lives at risk to care for patients affected by the virus.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">The pandemic underscored the critical role doctors play in safeguarding public health and highlighted the need for a robust healthcare infrastructure. Throughout this tumultuous period, doctors demonstrated immense courage, compassion, and dedication, often under overwhelming circumstances, becoming beacons of hope in the darkest hours.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><h3 style="text-align: justify;">Adapting to New Challenges</h3><div style="text-align: justify;">The pandemic accelerated the adoption of telemedicine and digital health technologies, prompting doctors to quickly adapt to remote consultations and virtual care. They embraced these changes to ensure continuity of care while reducing the risk of viral transmission. This transformative shift in healthcare delivery opened new avenues for patient-doctor communication and emphasized the importance of harnessing technology to improve healthcare access and outcomes.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">Doctors also faced challenges related to mental health and burnout during the pandemic. Witnessing the loss of many lives and dealing with the stress of working in high-pressure environments took a toll on their well-being. However, the medical community's resilience and unwavering commitment to their patients and profession remained evident, inspiring us all.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><h3 style="text-align: justify;">Gratitude and Recognition</h3><div style="text-align: justify;">Doctor's Day 2023 provides an opportunity for society to express gratitude and appreciation for the monumental contributions doctors make to our lives. Their expertise, skill, and knowledge are invaluable assets in diagnosing illnesses, designing treatment plans, and promoting preventive health practices. Doctors are not just healthcare providers; they are educators, advocates, and role models who empower patients to lead healthier lives.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">This year, let us take a moment to acknowledge the efforts of doctors from all specialties and fields. From pediatricians who care for our children to oncologists who fight against cancer, from mental health professionals who support our emotional well-being to surgeons who perform life-saving operations, each doctor plays a unique role in shaping a healthier world.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><h3 style="text-align: justify;">Supporting the Medical Community</h3><div style="text-align: justify;">As we celebrate Doctor's Day, we must also recognize the importance of supporting the medical community. Governments and healthcare organizations need to invest in healthcare infrastructure, research, and training to equip doctors with the tools they need to excel in their profession. Improved work conditions, resources, and mental health support will foster a healthier, more fulfilled medical workforce.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">Individuals can show their appreciation by adhering to healthy habits, staying informed about health issues, and prioritizing regular medical check-ups. Trusting and respecting the expertise of doctors can strengthen the patient-doctor relationship, leading to better health outcomes for everyone.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><h3 style="text-align: left;"></h3><blockquote><h3 style="text-align: justify;"><i><span style="color: #cc0000;">Conclusion</span></i></h3><div style="text-align: justify;"><i><b><span style="color: #cc0000;">Doctor's Day 2023 is a time for us all to come together and pay tribute to the heroes of healthcare. The challenges of the past few years have reminded us of the immeasurable value that doctors bring to our lives. Let us use this day to express our gratitude and appreciation for their dedication and sacrifices, not just during times of crisis, but every day. Continuing investments in medical research and public health infrastructure will be crucial in safeguarding global well-being.</span></b></i></div><div></div></blockquote><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div class="blogger-post-footer">Generated from Askurdoctor.net.

In this article, we will discuss some essential tips and practices for maintaining genital hygiene. By following these guidelines, you can promote a clean and healthy genital area. Let's dive in!</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><h3 style="text-align: justify;">1. Daily Gentle Cleansing:</h3><div style="text-align: justify;">Regular cleansing is vital for maintaining genital hygiene. Use warm water and a mild, unscented soap to clean the external genital area. Avoid using harsh soaps, douches, or fragranced products as they can disrupt the natural balance of bacteria and cause irritation. Remember to wash the area gently and rinse thoroughly to remove any traces of soap.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><h3 style="text-align: justify;">2. Proper Wiping Technique:</h3><div style="text-align: justify;">When using the toilet, it's essential to adopt the correct wiping technique. Always wipe from front to back after urination or a bowel movement. This practice helps prevent the transfer of bacteria from the anal area to the urethra or vagina, reducing the risk of urinary tract infections (UTIs) and other potential complications.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><h3 style="text-align: justify;">3. Wear Breathable Underwear:</h3><div style="text-align: justify;">Choosing the right underwear is crucial for maintaining genital hygiene. Opt for breathable fabrics like cotton or moisture-wicking materials that allow air circulation and reduce moisture build-up. Avoid tight-fitting underwear as they can trap moisture and create an environment conducive to bacterial or fungal growth.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><h3 style="text-align: justify;">4. Practice Safe Sex:</h3><div style="text-align: justify;">Engaging in safe sexual practices is not only important for preventing sexually transmitted infections (STIs) but also for maintaining genital hygiene. Use barrier methods like condoms or dental dams to protect against STIs. After sexual activity, it's advisable to urinate and clean the genital area to flush out any potential bacteria.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><h3 style="text-align: justify;">5. Avoid Excessive Washing and Douching:</h3><div style="text-align: justify;">While it's important to maintain cleanliness, over-washing or douching can be harmful. Excessive washing can strip away the natural protective oils and upset the pH balance of the genital area, leading to dryness, itching, and irritation. Avoid using douches or strong antiseptic solutions unless recommended by a healthcare professional.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><h3 style="text-align: justify;">6. Change Wet Clothing Promptly:</h3><div style="text-align: justify;">Sitting in wet swimwear, sweaty gym clothes, or damp undergarments for extended periods can create a breeding ground for bacteria and fungi. Change out of wet or sweaty clothing as soon as possible to keep the genital area dry and prevent the growth of microorganisms.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><h2 style="text-align: justify;">Conclusion:</h2><div style="text-align: justify;">Maintaining genital hygiene is essential for overall health and well-being. By following these simple practices, such as daily gentle cleansing, proper wiping technique, wearing breathable underwear, practicing safe sex, and avoiding excessive washing or douching, you can ensure a clean and healthy genital area. Remember, if you experience persistent itching, unusual discharge, or any other concerning symptoms, it's important to consult a healthcare professional for an accurate diagnosis and appropriate treatment. Prioritizing genital hygiene will contribute to your overall comfort and help you maintain a healthy lifestyle.</div><div class="blogger-post-footer">Generated from Askurdoctor.net.

These stones can cause severe pain and discomfort when they travel through the urinary tract. Understanding how kidney stones form is crucial in preventing their occurrence and managing their impact. In this article, we will delve into the process of kidney stone formation, the factors that contribute to their development, and possible preventive measures.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><h4 style="text-align: justify;">The Formation Process:</h4><div style="text-align: justify;">Kidney stones typically develop when the urine becomes concentrated, allowing minerals and salts to crystallize and stick together. The kidneys play a vital role in filtering waste products from the blood and producing urine. Within the urine, there are substances such as calcium, oxalate, and uric acid, which at normal concentrations, are easily passed out of the body. However, under certain conditions, these substances can become highly concentrated and form crystals, initiating the formation of kidney stones.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">There are several types of kidney stones, including calcium stones, uric acid stones, struvite stones, and cystine stones. Calcium stones are the most common type and are often composed of calcium oxalate or calcium phosphate. Uric acid stones form when there is excessive uric acid in the urine. Struvite stones are typically a result of urinary tract infections, while cystine stones are caused by a genetic disorder that leads to excessive cystine in the urine.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><h4 style="text-align: justify;">Factors Contributing to Kidney Stone Formation:</h4><div style="text-align: justify;">Various factors can contribute to the formation of kidney stones, including:</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">1. Dehydration: Insufficient fluid intake reduces urine volume, allowing minerals to concentrate and form stones.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">2. Diet: A diet high in sodium, oxalate, and animal protein can increase the risk of stone formation. Oxalate-rich foods include spinach, rhubarb, chocolate, and nuts.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">3. Family History: A family history of kidney stones increases the likelihood of developing them.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">4. Medical Conditions: Certain medical conditions, such as obesity, gout, urinary tract infections, and digestive disorders, can increase the risk of kidney stones.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><h4 style="text-align: justify;">Preventive Measures:</h4><div style="text-align: justify;">Fortunately, there are steps you can take to help prevent kidney stone formation:</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">1. Stay Hydrated: Drinking an adequate amount of water throughout the day helps dilute urine and flush out minerals, reducing the risk of stone formation.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">2. Balanced Diet: Maintain a balanced diet that includes adequate calcium and limits sodium, oxalate, and animal protein intake.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">3. Limit Caffeine and Alcohol: Excessive caffeine and alcohol consumption can dehydrate the body, increasing the risk of stone formation.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">4. Medication: In some cases, medication may be prescribed to prevent the formation of specific types of kidney stones.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><h4 style="text-align: justify;">Conclusion:</h4><div style="text-align: justify;">Kidney stones are formed when minerals and salts in the urine crystallize and stick together. Several factors, such as dehydration, diet, family history, and underlying medical conditions, contribute to their formation. However, adopting preventive measures, including proper hydration, a balanced diet, and lifestyle modifications, can significantly reduce the risk of kidney stone development. If you suspect you have kidney stones or experience symptoms such as severe pain, blood in urine, or frequent urinary tract infections, consult a healthcare professional for appropriate diagnosis and treatment.</div><div class="blogger-post-footer">Generated from Askurdoctor.net.

Stay hydrated: </h4><div style="text-align: justify;">Drink an adequate amount of water throughout the day to maintain good urine flow. This can help prevent the concentration of minerals that form kidney stones. Aim to drink enough fluids to produce at least 2 liters (about 8 cups) of urine per day.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><h4 style="text-align: justify;">2. Follow a balanced diet: </h4><div style="text-align: justify;">Consume a well-balanced diet that includes a variety of fruits, vegetables, and whole grains. Avoid excessive intake of processed foods, high-sodium foods, and foods high in oxalate, such as spinach, rhubarb, beets, and chocolate.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><h4 style="text-align: justify;">3. Limit animal protein: </h4><div style="text-align: justify;">High intake of animal protein, including red meat, poultry, and seafood, may increase the risk of kidney stone formation. Moderate your consumption and consider plant-based protein sources as alternatives.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><h4 style="text-align: justify;">4. Control salt intake: </h4><div style="text-align: justify;">Limit your salt (sodium) intake to help prevent the formation of certain types of kidney stones. Avoid adding extra salt to your meals, and be cautious of processed foods that are often high in sodium.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><h4 style="text-align: justify;">5. Monitor calcium intake: </h4><div style="text-align: justify;">While it may seem counterintuitive, consuming adequate amounts of calcium can actually help prevent certain types of kidney stones. However, it is essential to get calcium from food sources rather than supplements. Talk to a healthcare professional for guidance on your specific calcium needs.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><h4 style="text-align: justify;">6. Limit oxalate-rich foods: </h4><div style="text-align: justify;">If you have a history of calcium oxalate stones, it may be beneficial to reduce your intake of oxalate-rich foods, such as spinach, rhubarb, beets, nuts, and chocolate. However, it's important to maintain a balanced diet and not eliminate these foods completely unless specifically advised by a healthcare professional.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><h4 style="text-align: justify;">7. Maintain a healthy weight: </h4><div style="text-align: justify;">Obesity and weight gain are associated with an increased risk of kidney stones. Aim to maintain a healthy weight through regular physical activity and a balanced diet.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><h4 style="text-align: justify;">8. Avoid dehydration during exercise: </h4><div style="text-align: justify;">If you engage in intense exercise or live in a hot climate, make sure to drink plenty of fluids to prevent dehydration and maintain adequate urine production.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><h4 style="text-align: justify;">9. Consult a healthcare professional: </h4><div style="text-align: justify;">If you have a history of kidney stones or are at a higher risk due to certain conditions, medications, or family history, it is advisable to consult a healthcare professional. They can provide personalized guidance and recommendations based on your specific situation.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><b><i>Remember, these are general preventive measures, and it is always important to consult with a healthcare professional for personalized advice based on your medical history and individual needs.</i></b></div><div class="blogger-post-footer">Generated from Askurdoctor.net.

It is primarily used to evaluate kidney function, blood flow, and urinary drainage. </blockquote></span></b></div><div><br /></div><div>Here is a more detailed explanation of the MAG3 renogram procedure:</div><div><br /></div><div>1. Patient Preparation: Before the test, the patient may be asked to drink plenty of fluids to ensure good hydration. It is important to inform the healthcare provider about any medications or allergies that the patient may have.</div><div><br /></div><div>2. Radiopharmaceutical Injection: A small amount of a radioactive tracer called MAG3 (mercaptoacetyltriglycine) is injected into a vein, usually in the arm. MAG3 is specifically taken up by the kidneys and helps in visualizing their function.</div><div><br /></div><div>3. Imaging Phases: The MAG3 renogram typically consists of three phases, each capturing different aspects of kidney function and urinary flow. The patient lies on an examination table, and a gamma camera is positioned over the abdomen to capture images.</div><div><br /></div><div> a. Blood Flow Phase: This phase captures the initial distribution of the radiopharmaceutical in the kidneys, showing the blood supply to the kidneys. Several images are taken to observe the uptake of the tracer by the kidneys.</div><div><br /></div><div> b. Cortical Phase: Following the blood flow phase, the cortical phase begins. The camera continues to take images as the MAG3 tracer is processed by the kidneys and moves into the renal cortex, which is the outer part of the kidney responsible for filtration. This phase provides information about the overall kidney function and can detect abnormalities such as reduced function or blockages.</div><div><br /></div><div> c. Pelvic Phase: After the cortical phase, the pelvic phase begins. The images obtained during this phase show the drainage of urine from the kidneys into the ureters and bladder. The camera captures the movement of the tracer as it flows through the collecting system of the kidneys.</div><div><br /></div><div>4. Dynamic Imaging and Time-Activity Curve: During the MAG3 renogram, dynamic imaging may be performed, which involves taking a series of images at regular intervals. This allows the healthcare provider to create a time-activity curve, which shows the rate of clearance of the tracer from the kidneys. The curve provides quantitative information about kidney function.</div><div><br /></div><div>5. Post-Processing and Analysis: After the imaging is complete, the obtained images and time-activity curves are analyzed by a nuclear medicine specialist or radiologist. They evaluate the data to assess kidney function, blood flow, and urinary drainage. Any abnormalities or differences between the two kidneys are noted and reported.</div><div><br /></div><div>The MAG3 renogram is considered a safe procedure with minimal risks. The radioactive tracer used (MAG3) has a short half-life, meaning it loses its radioactivity relatively quickly. The amount of radiation exposure during the test is generally considered low and is not associated with significant health risks.</div><div><br /></div><div>It's important to note that the MAG3 renogram is just one of several imaging tests used to evaluate kidney function and diagnose kidney-related conditions. The choice of the test depends on the specific clinical situation and the information needed by the healthcare provider. It is always recommended to consult with a healthcare professional for personalized information and guidance regarding any medical procedure.</div></div><div class="blogger-post-footer">Generated from Askurdoctor.net.

It also predicted further possible favourable impact such as lower insulin resistance, lower CRP, lower leptin and higher adiponectin concentrations in cohort participants. Adiponectin is a hormone that regulates glucose and lipid metabolism, which has been shown to have anti-inflammatory and insulin-sensitising effects, and leptin is a hormone that regulates food intake and energy homeostasis.</div><div><br /></div><div>A one cup per day increase was measured against individuals' varying daily consumption rather than a set baseline. Daily consumption within the study cohort ranged from 0 to ~6 cups of coffee per day, with findings suggesting benefits from an extra cup per day regardless whether individuals fell at the lower or higher end of that range.</div><div><br /></div><div>Data from the UK Biobank cohort also suggested that the manner in which coffee is prepared may impact its health benefits. Filtered or espresso coffee had the strongest beneficial association with lower T2D risk and CRP concentrations, alongside being a non-smoker.</div><div><br /></div><div>The study is authored by a team led by Dr. Trudy Voortman, PhD, Associate Professor in Nutritional Epidemiology at Erasmus University Medical Centre Rotterdam, with Dr. Carolina Ochoa-Rosales, PhD, Postdoctoral Scientist at the same institute, as primary author of the study.</div><div><br /></div><div>Dr. Voortman said, "Coffee is one of the most frequently consumed beverages worldwide and its potential health effects trigger significant scientific research. Previous studies have linked higher coffee consumption to lower risk of developing T2D but underlying mechanisms remained unclear. Our research shows that coffee is associated with differences in the levels of inflammation biomarkers in the body, and as we know that T2D is partly an inflammatory disease, this could be one of the mechanisms at play. These findings could also support future research into the effects of coffee on other inflammation-related chronic diseases."</div><div><br /></div><div>The research complements the existing body of evidence on the association between coffee consumption and lower risk of T2D, which may contribute to the development of guidance on how nutrition and lifestyle changes support reduction strategies for non-communicable diseases like T2D. <span style="color: #eeeeee;">(ANI)</span></div><div class="blogger-post-footer">Generated from Askurdoctor.net.

The good news is that there are several steps you can take to prevent kidney stones from forming in the first place. In this article, we’ll discuss some of the most effective ways to prevent kidney stones.</b></blockquote></div><div><br /></div><h3 style="text-align: left;">Stay hydrated</h3><div>One of the most important things you can do to prevent kidney stones is to stay hydrated. Drinking enough water throughout the day helps to dilute your urine and make it less concentrated, which reduces the risk of mineral deposits forming in the kidneys. Aim to drink at least 8-10 glasses of water per day, and more if you exercise or live in a hot climate.</div><div><br /></div><h3 style="text-align: left;">Limit your salt intake</h3><div>Eating a diet that is high in sodium can increase the risk of kidney stones. Too much salt in the diet can cause calcium to build up in the urine, which can lead to the formation of stones. Try to limit your salt intake by avoiding processed foods and adding less salt to your meals.</div><div><br /></div><h3 style="text-align: left;">Eat a balanced diet</h3><div>Eating a balanced diet that is rich in fruits, vegetables, and whole grains can help prevent kidney stones. These foods are high in nutrients like magnesium and potassium, which help to regulate the body’s calcium levels and reduce the risk of stone formation.</div><div><br /></div><h3 style="text-align: left;">Limit your intake of animal protein</h3><div>Eating too much animal protein, such as red meat, poultry, and seafood, can increase the risk of kidney stones. These foods are high in purines, which the body converts into uric acid. High levels of uric acid in the urine can lead to the formation of uric acid stones. Try to limit your intake of animal protein and choose plant-based protein sources like legumes and nuts instead.</div><div><br /></div><h3 style="text-align: left;">Get enough calcium</h3><div>Contrary to popular belief, getting enough calcium in your diet can actually help prevent kidney stones. Calcium binds to oxalate in the digestive tract, preventing it from being absorbed into the bloodstream and excreted in the urine. Aim to get your calcium from foods like milk, yogurt, and cheese, rather than supplements.</div><div><br /></div><h3 style="text-align: left;">Talk to your doctor about medication</h3><div>If you have a history of kidney stones or are at a high risk of developing them, your doctor may recommend medication to help prevent their formation. Medications like thiazide diuretics and allopurinol can help reduce the risk of kidney stones by lowering the levels of calcium and uric acid in the urine.</div><div><br /></div><h4 style="text-align: left;"><blockquote>In conclusion, kidney stones can be a painful and uncomfortable condition, but there are several steps you can take to prevent them from forming. Staying hydrated, eating a balanced diet, limiting your salt and animal protein intake, getting enough calcium, and talking to your doctor about medication can all help reduce the risk of kidney stones. By making these lifestyle changes, you can help protect your kidneys and maintain good health.</blockquote></h4><!--Go to www.addthis.com/dashboard to customize your tools-->

ThuLEP involves the use of a thulium laser to remove the obstructive tissue from the prostate, allowing for improved urinary flow and relief of BPH symptoms. This article will discuss the indications, technique, outcomes, and complications of ThuLEP.</blockquote></b></div><h3 style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Indications:</h3><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">ThuLEP is indicated for patients with symptomatic BPH who have failed medical therapy or who have severe obstruction, large prostate volume, or urinary retention. ThuLEP is a safe and effective treatment option for these patients, providing durable relief of BPH symptoms and improving quality of life.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><h3 style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Technique:</h3><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">ThuLEP is typically performed under general or spinal anesthesia. The patient is placed in the lithotomy position, and a cystoscope is used to visualize the urethra and prostate. A thulium laser is then used to enucleate the obstructive tissue from the prostate. The laser energy is delivered through a fiber-optic cable, which is passed through the working channel of the cystoscope. The laser is used to create a plane of dissection between the adenoma and the prostatic capsule, allowing for enucleation of the adenoma in a bloodless and precise manner. The enucleated tissue is then morcellated and removed through the working channel of the cystoscope. The procedure typically takes 60-90 minutes to complete.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><h3 style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Outcomes:</h3><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">ThuLEP has been shown to be a safe and effective treatment option for patients with symptomatic BPH. Studies have reported significant improvements in urinary flow rate, post-void residual volume, and BPH symptoms following ThuLEP. ThuLEP has also been shown to have a low rate of perioperative complications, such as bleeding, urinary tract infection, and urinary incontinence. Long-term follow-up studies have demonstrated durable relief of BPH symptoms and low rates of retreatment.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><h3 style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Complications:</h3><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Although ThuLEP is a safe and effective procedure, there are potential complications associated with the procedure. The most common complication is urinary tract infection, which can be managed with antibiotics. Other potential complications include bleeding, urinary incontinence, urethral stricture, and retrograde ejaculation. However, the overall rate of complications associated with ThuLEP is low.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><h3 style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Conclusion:</h3><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">ThuLEP is a safe and effective treatment option for patients with symptomatic BPH who have failed medical therapy or who have severe obstruction, large prostate volume, or urinary retention. ThuLEP provides durable relief of BPH symptoms and improves quality of life. Although there are potential complications associated with the procedure, the overall rate of complications is low. ThuLEP is a valuable addition to the armamentarium of minimally invasive surgical treatments for BPH.</div><div class="blogger-post-footer">Generated from Askurdoctor.net.

Unlike traditional surgery, RIRS does not require any incisions or cuts, making it a safe and effective option for patients.</blockquote></b></div></div><div><br /></div><div>The procedure is performed using a flexible ureteroscope, which is inserted into the urethra and navigated up to the kidney. The scope allows the surgeon to visualize the inside of the kidney and identify any stones or abnormalities.</div><div><br /></div><div>Once the stones or other problems are identified, a laser is used to break them up into smaller pieces, which can then be easily passed through the urinary tract. In some cases, a small basket may be used to remove the broken-up pieces.</div><div><br /></div><div>RIRS is typically performed under general anesthesia and takes between 30 minutes to 2 hours, depending on the complexity of the case. Patients usually go home the same day or the following day and can return to their normal activities within a few days.</div><div><br /></div><div>RIRS is particularly useful for treating smaller stones (less than 2 cm) that are located in the lower pole of the kidney or in areas that are difficult to access with other surgical methods. It is also a good option for patients who are not good candidates for traditional surgery, such as those with bleeding disorders or other medical conditions.</div><div><br /></div><div>Some potential risks and complications of RIRS include bleeding, infection, and damage to the ureter or kidney. However, these risks are relatively low, and most patients experience few or no complications.</div><div><br /></div><div>Overall, RIRS is a safe and effective option for treating kidney stones and other kidney-related problems. It offers several advantages over traditional surgery, including a shorter recovery time, fewer complications, and less pain and discomfort for the patient. If you are experiencing kidney-related problems, talk to your doctor about whether RIRS may be a good option for you.</div><!--Go to www.addthis.com/dashboard to customize your tools-->

As the prostate gland grows, it can squeeze the urethra, causing a range of urinary symptoms.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj0IeTvaASbLFE9ioZlzqpdeuUMiQykIYdYf_Z72Zdu0xJ-AotV9KnJr_P1ppkjCZlYWyJVs5aIxkthCKv0cSjZUZBe9pQQc0NdgkblQvmfVvp20d_F5tztGVvNCNNlhyTamnpy7xs7AcaYwZn0x02fWNvZ6NMHQvvUmNpH40wcAaiLTn2MBNdO7q7N/s1053/Benign_Prostatic_Hyperplasia_nci-vol-7137-300.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="Enlarged Prostate/BPH" border="0" data-original-height="650" data-original-width="1053" height="248" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj0IeTvaASbLFE9ioZlzqpdeuUMiQykIYdYf_Z72Zdu0xJ-AotV9KnJr_P1ppkjCZlYWyJVs5aIxkthCKv0cSjZUZBe9pQQc0NdgkblQvmfVvp20d_F5tztGVvNCNNlhyTamnpy7xs7AcaYwZn0x02fWNvZ6NMHQvvUmNpH40wcAaiLTn2MBNdO7q7N/w400-h248/Benign_Prostatic_Hyperplasia_nci-vol-7137-300.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><br /><p></p><p><br /></p><h3 style="text-align: left;">Causes of BPH:</h3><p>The exact cause of BPH is not known, but it is believed to be related to hormonal changes that occur as men age. As men age, their levels of testosterone decrease, and their levels of estrogen increase, which can cause the prostate gland to grow.</p><p><br /></p><h3 style="text-align: left;">Symptoms of BPH:</h3><p>The symptoms of BPH can vary from mild to severe and can include:</p><p></p><ul style="text-align: left;"><li>Difficulty starting urination</li><li>Weak urine flow</li><li>Dribbling at the end of urination</li><li>Frequent urination, especially at night</li><li>Urgency to urinate</li><li>Inability to completely empty the bladder</li></ul><p></p><p><br /></p><h3 style="text-align: left;">Diagnosis of BPH:</h3><p>If you are experiencing any of the symptoms of BPH, it's important to see a doctor. The doctor will perform a physical exam, including a digital rectal exam, and may also order other tests, such as a urine flow test or a prostate-specific antigen (PSA) blood test, to rule out other conditions.</p><p><br /></p><h3 style="text-align: left;">Treatment options for BPH:</h3><p>The treatment options for BPH depend on the severity of your symptoms. For mild symptoms, your doctor may recommend watchful waiting and making lifestyle changes, such as limiting fluids before bedtime and avoiding caffeine and alcohol. For more severe symptoms, your doctor may prescribe medications, such as alpha-blockers or 5-alpha reductase inhibitors, to help relax the muscles in the prostate gland and reduce its size. In some cases, surgery may be necessary to remove part of the prostate gland.</p><p><br /></p><h3 style="text-align: left;">Conclusion:</h3><p>So there you have it, our overview of Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia. Remember, if you are experiencing any symptoms of BPH, it's important to see a doctor for a proper diagnosis and treatment plan. With the right treatment, you can manage your symptoms and improve your quality of life.</p><div class="blogger-post-footer">Generated from Askurdoctor.net.

The fourth tip to stay healthy in summer is to eat healthy. With the abundance of fresh fruits and vegetables available in summer, it's a great time to focus on a healthy diet. Concerned by the stalling of progress for children, and the widening gap between children and adults, UNAIDS, UNICEF, WHO and partners have brought together a global alliance to ensure that no child living with HIV is denied treatment by the end of the decade and to prevent new infant HIV infections.</div><div><br /></div><div>The new Global Alliance for Ending AIDS in Children by 2030 was announced by leading figures at the International AIDS Conference taking place in Montreal, Canada.</div><div><br /></div><div>In addition to the United Nations agencies, the alliance includes civil society movements, including the Global Network of People living with HIV, national governments in the most affected countries, and international partners, including PEPFAR and the Global Fund. Twelve countries have joined the alliance in the first phase: Angola, Cameroon, Côte d'Ivoire, the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), Kenya, Mozambique, Nigeria, South Africa, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.</div><div><br /></div><div>Consultations by the alliance have identified four pillars for collective action:</div><div><br /></div><div>closing the treatment gap for pregnant and breastfeeding adolescent girls and women living with HIV and optimizing continuity of treatment;</div><div>preventing and detecting new HIV infections among pregnant and breastfeeding adolescent girls and women;</div><div>accessible testing, optimized treatment, and comprehensive care for infants, children, and adolescents exposed to and living with HIV; and</div><div>addressing rights, gender equality, and the social and structural barriers that hinder access to services. </div><div>Addressing the International AIDS Conference, Limpho Nteko from Lesotho shared how she had discovered she was HIV positive at age 21 while pregnant with her first child. This led her on a journey where she now works for the pioneering women-led mothers2mothers programme. Enabling community leadership, she highlighted, is key to an effective response.</div><div><br /></div><div>“We must all sprint together to end AIDS in children by 2030,” said Ms Nteko. “To succeed, we need a healthy, informed generation of young people who feel free to talk about HIV, and to get the services and support they need to protect themselves and their children from HIV. mothers2mothers has achieved virtual elimination of mother-to-child transmission of HIV for our enrolled clients for eight consecutive years—showing what is possible when we let women and communities create solutions tailored to their realities.” </div><div><br /></div><div>The alliance will run for the next eight years until 2030, aiming to fix one of the most glaring disparities in the AIDS response. Alliance members are united in the assessment that the challenge is surmountable through partnership.</div><div><br /></div><div>“The wide gap in treatment coverage between children and adults is an outrage,” said UNAIDS Executive Director Winnie Byanyima. “Through this alliance, we will channel that outrage into action. By bringing together new improved medicines, new political commitment, and the determined activism of communities, we can be the generation who end AIDS in children. We can win this – but we can only win together.”</div><div><br /></div><div>"Despite progress to reduce vertical transmission, increase testing and treatment, and expand access to information, children around the world are still far less likely than adults to have access to HIV prevention, care, and treatment services," said UNICEF Executive Director Catherine Russell. "The launch of the Global Alliance to End AIDS in Children is an important step forward – and UNICEF is committed to working alongside all of our partners to achieve an AIDS-free future."</div><div><br /></div><div>“No child should be born with or grow up with HIV, and no child with HIV should go without treatment,” said Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, WHO Director-General. “The fact that only half of children with HIV receive antiretrovirals is a scandal, and a stain on our collective conscience. The Global Alliance to End AIDS in Children is an opportunity to renew our commitment to children and their families to unite, to speak and to act with purpose and in solidarity with all mothers, children and adolescents.”</div><div><br /></div><div>Dr Osagie Ehanire, Minister of Health of Nigeria, pledged to “change the lives of children left behind” by putting in place the systems needed to ensure that health services meet the needs of children living with HIV.</div><div><br /></div><div>Nigeria, Dr Ehanire announced, will host the alliance’s political launch in Africa at a Ministerial meeting in October 2022.</div><div><span style="color: #cccccc;">Source:WHO</span></div><div class="blogger-post-footer">Generated from Askurdoctor.net.

Here's what your doctor would like you to know about the disease so that the spread of this infection is stopped.</div><div><br /></div><div>Masks have become an important part of our lives ever since the pandemic happened. But it is seen that people stop wearing them when COVID cases are low or when the government eases anti-COVID rules. However, doctors suggest that masks and gloves should be worn always.</div><div><br /></div><div>These are the primary protectors of the body and safeguard it from all sorts of viral attacks.</div><div><br /></div><div>The easiest way to stop contracting the infection is by not letting it come near you. The whole idea behind the COVID lockdown was to isolate people so that the chances of COVID transmission is cut down. It proved effective too!</div><div><br /></div><div>Monkeypox is also a transmissible disease. Doctors advise people to immediately start self-isolation once the symptoms are seen. The time when the body develops lesions till the time when the lesions fall off and the skin comes back to its normal active form is the most contagious period of the infection.</div><div><br /></div><div>It is very important to remain informed about the infection. The symptoms of the infection are similar to those of the common cold. Hence it is very difficult to ascertain if it is a monkeypox infection or not in the initial stages; in many cases only after lesions start forming people go to a doctor.</div><div><br /></div><div>The risk of spreading and contracting monkeypox can be averted to a great extent if people take necessary precautions during the initial days of the symptoms:</div><div><b><span style="color: #cc0000;">Fever</span></b></div><div><b><span style="color: #cc0000;">Sore throat</span></b></div><div><b><span style="color: #cc0000;">Nasal congestion</span></b></div><div><b><span style="color: #cc0000;">Chills</span></b></div><div><b><span style="color: #cc0000;">Swollen lymph nodes</span></b></div><div><b><span style="color: #cc0000;">Exhaustion</span></b></div><div><b><span style="color: #cc0000;">Muscle aches and backache</span></b></div><div><b><span style="color: #cc0000;">Headache</span></b></div><div><b><span style="color: #cc0000;">Cough</span></b></div><div><b><span style="color: #cc0000;">There can be exceptions too</span></b></div><div><br /></div><div>The US Centers for Disease Prevention and Control (CDC) says that there can be cases where people get rashes after a few days of flu-like symptoms, or there can be cases when people get a rash first and then other symptoms are seen. It also says that there are cases where people can only experience a rash and have no other symptoms.</div><div><br /></div><div>Doctors always advise not to jump on to self-treatment when you see any symptoms. It is always recommended to contact a doctor when you see the symptoms and get yourself tested for monkeypox. While this might help you in identifying the infection quickly, it will also stop the spread of the infection.</div><div><br /></div><div>With timely medical intervention you are not just protecting yourself, you are saving others from getting this infection.</div><div><br /></div><div>Monkeypox lesions are extremely painful and itchy. The lesions are also highly contagious as these contain huge loads of the virus than the throat and nasal fluids, research studies have said.</div><div><br /></div><div>Doctors have recommended applying medications, only after verifying it from them. Prescribed medications will soothe the itching and pain and will stop the patient from scratching and popping it.</div><div><span style="color: #eeeeee;">Source:TOI</span></div></div><div class="blogger-post-footer">Generated from Askurdoctor.net.

The likelihood of developing another kidney stone within five years increases by 30 per cent if you've already had one.</i></b></li><li><b><i>The findings of the study were published in Mayo Clinic Proceedings.</i></b></li></ul></b><div>Changes in diet are often prescribed to prevent recurrent symptomatic kidney stones. However, little research is available regarding dietary changes for those who have one incident of kidney stone formation versus those who have recurrent incidents.</div><div><br /></div><div>Mayo Clinic researchers designed a prospective study to investigate the impact of dietary changes. Their findings show that enriching diets with foods high in calcium and potassium may prevent recurrent symptomatic kidney stones.</div><div><br /></div><div>Dietary factors were based on a questionnaire administered to 411 patients who had experienced first-time symptomatic kidney stones and a control group of 384 people -- all of whom were seen at Mayo Clinic in Rochester and Mayo Clinic in Florida between 2009 and 2018. The study show that lower dietary calcium and potassium, as well as lower intake of fluids, caffeine and phytate, are associated with higher odds of experiencing a first-time symptomatic kidney stone.</div><div><br /></div><div>Of the patients who had first-time stone formation, 73 experienced recurrent stones within a median of 4.1 years of follow-up. Further analysis found that lower levels of dietary calcium and potassium predicted recurrence.</div><div><br /></div><div>"These dietary findings may have particular importance because recommendations for preventing kidney stones have been based primarily on dietary factors associated with first-time rather than recurrent stone formation," says Andrew Rule, M.D., a Mayo Clinic nephrologist and senior author of the study. "Patients may not be likely to adjust their diet to prevent an incidence of kidney stones, but they are more likely to do so if it can help prevent a recurrence."</div><div><br /></div><div>Fluid intake of less than 3,400 millilitres per day, or about nine 12-ounce glasses, is associated with first-time stone formation, along with caffeine intake and phytate, the study finds. Daily fluid intake includes intake from foods such as fruits and vegetables.</div><div>Low fluid and caffeine intake can result in low urine volume and increased urine concentration, contributing to stone formation. Phytate is an antioxidant compound found in whole grains, nuts and other foods that can lead to increased calcium absorption and urinary calcium excretion.</div><div><br /></div><div>"Changing your diet to prevent kidney stones can be very difficult," says Dr. Rule. "Thus, knowing the dietary factors that are most important for preventing kidney stone recurrence can help patients and providers know what to prioritize."</div><div><br /></div><div>Low dietary calcium and potassium was a more important predictor than fluid intake of recurrent kidney stone formation, says Api Chewcharat, M.D., the article's first author and a postdoctoral research fellow at Mayo Clinic at the time of the study. "This is not to say high fluid intake is not important. We just did not find benefits of increasing fluid intake among those patients with a history of kidney stone formation."</div><div><br /></div><div>The study concludes that diets with daily intake of 1,200 milligrams of calcium may help prevent first-time and recurrent kidney stones. That daily intake is in line with the Department of Agriculture's daily recommended nutrition.</div><div><br /></div><div>While higher potassium intake also is recommended, the USDA does not make a recommendation for daily potassium intake. The study also doesn't recommend an intake level.</div><div><br /></div><div>Dr. Chewcharat says the takeaway is that patients should add more fruits and vegetables that are high in calcium and potassium to their diets. Fruits that are high in potassium include bananas, oranges, grapefruits, cantaloupes, honeydew melons and apricots. Vegetables include potatoes, mushrooms, peas, cucumbers and zucchini.</div><div><span style="color: #cccccc;">Source:ANI</span></div><div class="blogger-post-footer">Generated from Askurdoctor.net.

"Our findings are encouraging as we are working to define subgroups in the general population who could benefit from enhanced cancer screening and prevention."</div><div><br /></div><div>For this study, researchers analyzed two ACS prospective cohort studies, Cancer Prevention Study-II Nutrition Cohort and Cancer Prevention Study-3 to identify the risk factors associated with greater than two-per cent absolute risk of any cancer within five years. The multivariable-adjusted relative risk of any cancer was strongest for current smokers compared with never smokers. In men, alcohol intake, family history of cancer, red meat consumption, and physical inactivity were also associated with risk.</div><div><br /></div><div>In women, body mass index (BMI), type 2 diabetes, hysterectomy, parity, family history of cancer, hypertension, tubal ligation, and physical inactivity were associated with cancer risk.</div><div><br /></div><div>Absolute five-year risk exceeded two per cent among nearly all persons greater than 50 years old and among some persons less than 50 years old including current or former smokers (less than 30 years since quitting) and long-term nonsmokers with a BMI greater than 25 or a first-degree family history of cancer. The absolute five-year risk was as high as 29 per cent in men and 25 per cent in women.</div><div><br /></div><div>"As we consider the possibility that future tests may be able to identify several types of cancer, we need to begin understanding who is most at risk for developing any type of cancer," said Patel. "These types of data are not widely available, but necessary to inform future screening options, such as blood-based multi-cancer early detection tests that could help save lives." </div><div><span style="color: #999999;">Source:ANI</span></div></div><div class="blogger-post-footer">Generated from Askurdoctor.net.

We have to work together to end the severe phase of this pandemic. We cannot let it go on like this, swinging between panic and neglect.</div><h4 style="text-align: left;"> The target of immunization of 70 percent of the population has to be achieved</h4><div> At the same time, at the inauguration of the meeting of the WHO Executive Board, Tredos said that we should not wait for the corona epidemic to end completely. Taking lessons from this, measures should be found to prevent such emergency situation in future. He said that we can end the emergency situation arising due to Corona this year. For this, we have to achieve the goal of immunization of 70 percent of the world's population on behalf of WHO. He said that by vaccinating those who are more prone to corona infection, we will have to pay attention and increase the investigation.</div><h4 style="text-align: left;"> Mistaking Omicron as the last variant</h4><div> Tedros said that it would be a big mistake to think of Omicron as the last variant of the corona virus. Due to this, a large number of patients are being found all over the world. Even though this variant is not critical, the risk of new variants emerging from it is high.</div><h4 style="text-align: left;"> The spread of Omicron increased the hope of returning to normalcy</h4><div> While Tedros has expressed hope that this year's collective effort will end the medical emergency caused by Corona, according to the New York Times report, WHO's European Region Director Dr. Hans Kluge has said that due to the rapid spread of the Omicron variant, Expectations of normalcy returning in the coming months have increased. However, he also cautioned against any negligence in complying with the preventive measures. Dr. Kluge said that due to vaccination and Omicron becoming infected more people will naturally make antibodies in the body. Due to this, the situation of corona epidemic is expected to become normal and stable in the coming time.</div><h4 style="text-align: left;"> The epidemic is moving towards ending</h4><div> Director Hans Kluge also said that we are moving towards the end of this epidemic. Hans said it could pick up again before the pandemic is completely over by the end of this year. Kluge said that by March, up to 60 percent of people in Europe would be infected with Omicron. After this the cases will be reduced here. Along with this, herd immunity will also develop in people.</div><div><br /></div><div> On Sunday, 36.46 lakh new corona infections have been confirmed in the world. 17.18 lakh people have been cured, while 9,047 people have died. In the case of new infections, America tops with 7.79 lakh patients, while France is second with 4 lakh new cases. At the same time, India is at number three.</div><h4 style="text-align: left;"> Decrease in cases of new infected in India</h4><div> It is to be known that more than 3 lakh new corona cases have come in the country for the fifth consecutive day. According to the Ministry of Health, 3 lakh 6 thousand 64 new corona infected were found on Sunday. During this 2.43 lakh people were cured, while 439 people have died. However, there has been a decrease of 27,469 in new infected compared to the previous day, that is, 8.23 percent less cases have been registered.</div><div> On Saturday, 3 lakh 33 thousand 533 new corona infected were found. During this 2.59 lakh people were cured, while 525 people have died. A day before this, on Friday, 3.37 lakh infected people were found and 488 people died. On Thursday, 3.47 lakh people were found infected and 703 people died. Talking about active cases, at present there are a total of 22.43 lakh active cases in the country. This figure of active cases has crossed 22 lakhs for the first time in the third wave.</div><div> Meanwhile, the government has said that the daily cases of covid will start declining after February 15. In some states and metro cities, after February 15, the cases will be less and the infection will start stabilizing. According to the source, due to vaccination, the effect of the third wave has reduced significantly.</div><div class="blogger-post-footer">Generated from Askurdoctor.net.
